Vessel has been Louisville’s most formidable jam band for nine years, although one almost hates to lump them into that genre. Vessel certainly shares much with that scene, but the band is more dedicated to songwriting than simply stretching out.

Not that it can’t stretch. Josh Blair, Jonathan Bramel, Isaac Raymond, Daniel Botula, Myron Koch, Joshua Collins and Rick Ennis are very comfortable with turning on and tuning in, and any fans of the Dead and String Cheese Incident will find a lot to love about Vessel.

The band has finally made a full-length album, “‘Round Midnight.” They’re making up for the delay by packing it with 17 songs over two discs, and will celebrate its release with a massive show Saturday at Headliners Music Hall, 1386 Lexington Road.

Music starts at 9 p.m. and admission at the door is $5, or for $15 you can also get the album.
