The National Jug Band Jubilee is the world’s largest and most astute festival that celebrates an historic type of 20’s jazz which often included homemade instruments, but it always included the jug as a bass instrument. Louisville is arguably the birthplace of jug band music, which influenced many famous musicians, such as the Grateful Dead and the Beatles, both of whom began as jug bands.
I have also been fortunate enough to be on the management staff of this festival since almost the very beginning.
