The Grand Theatre welcomes back to its stage one of the nation’s premiere Pink Floyd tribute groups for a concert scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Dark Side of the Wall: A Pink Floyd Tribute presents the entire history of one of rock music’s most innovative and colorful groups.

The Louisville-based tribute group appeared at the Grand in February 2014 to an enthusiastic audience that was transfixed by the group’s multi-sensory presentation that combined remarkably faithful renditions of Pink Floyd’s music with a compelling video and lighting presentation.

Dark Side, which takes its name from two groundbreaking albums, brings together some of the Louisville area’s most talented musicians.

The group consists of Allen Needham, guitar; Steve Katsikas, keyboards and vocals; Brian Knopf, lead vocals and rhythm guitar; Antony Szaraz, lead vocals and bass guitar; Mark Whobrey, drums and vocals; Myron Koch, saxophone; and Jennifer Lauletta, Sarah Smith and Holly Jackson, vocals.

Vintage performance

Dark Side attracts enthusiastic fans whenever it performs, having sold out the 1,500-seat Brown Theatre in Louisville several times. The group not only strives to reflect every nuance of Pink Floyd’s music, it even performs on vintage instruments from the 1970s.

Band member Steve Katsikas describes a Dark Side performance in this way: “Our nine piece band is comprised of the finest musicians in Louisville and both our lighting director and video production team have worked hard to create an original and strong visual synergy with the music. I believe that we have been so successful because of this unique and multi-sensory approach.”

Dark Side is observing the 40th anniversary of the release of the seminal Floyd album “Wish You Were Here” with a show that draws heavily on that album, as well as “Animals,” another album from the band’s “golden, middle era.”

Both albums will be performed in their entirety, along with a selection of other songs from the entire body of work from the legendary group’s career.
