A committee formed by the musicians chose to hold the Second Peak Summit Groove and Dance Festival in the summer months. A May 2003 date was set, all 4 venues geared up, tents were erected in parking lots…and the capacity was doubled. Sponsors began offering their services as the same 8 bands (plus a few new ones…) started promoting their new collective effort. This event drew a good amount of press attention, advertising was minimal, word-of-mouth was very high…and the crowd increased to over 2500…breaking the sales records that the Peak Summit previously set in those venues. At that point, it was obvious that the artists of the Peak Summit were on to something.
In October of 2003, the Peak Summit “Octoberfest” Groove and Dance Festival was staged in St Matthews. Once again, the festival drew thousands of fans and generated sales-record-highs. A pattern had emerged.
